How much is a service-call fee for cooktop repair?
Most Brazilian companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of R$100–R$200, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Brazil has no single national VAT on appliance-repair labour: the service is taxed by the municipal ISS (Imposto Sobre Serviços), with a rate set by each city between 2% and 5% (Lei Complementar nº 116/2003); parts and materials used in the repair are instead taxed separately by state ICMS. Many independent technicians or small registered businesses (MEI) do not itemize this tax in a quote — treat any percentage as a ceiling, never a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a cooktop, or should you replace it?
