What is the typical fee?
The national range is €45–€110. The fee usually covers travel and diagnosis; many companies credit it against the repair if you proceed — always ask before booking. VAT (20%) may or may not be included: many independent repairers and micro-entrepreneurs fall under France's VAT exemption for small businesses (franchise en base de TVA, €37,500 threshold for services) and charge no VAT at all — their invoices carry the note "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI". So treat 20% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. Prices displayed to consumers in France are quoted TTC (toutes taxes comprises — all taxes included).
