How do brand and quality tier change the repair cost?
Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Value brands such as Beko, Cylinda and Zanussi have the cheapest, most widely stocked parts; Bosch, Siemens and Electrolux form the mass-market core, while premium and luxury lines (AEG, Miele, Gaggenau) carry pricier, often OEM-restricted components. Pick a tier for a class-typical estimate, or a specific Norwegian brand to override it.

Refrigerator leaking water: what usually causes it? Estimated
-
Drain hole/drain line cleaning
DIY possiblekr 500–kr 1 000
The clearly most common cause of water on the floor is a blocked drain hole at the back of the refrigerator. Samsung explains that the water then collects at the bottom instead of running down and evaporating. Simple cleaning can often be done yourself, and corresponds to Pelles Verksted's cheapest category at 500–1000 kr for professional help.
-
Door gasket replacement
Pro recommendedkr 1 000–kr 2 000
A worn door gasket lets in warm, humid air, causing condensation and water buildup. Pelles Verksted states 1000–2000 kr for door gasket replacement including parts and labor.

How much is a service-call fee for refrigerator repair?
Most Norwegian companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of kr 400–kr 1 700, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (MVA, 25%) may or may not be included: many small repair firms and sole traders with under NOK 50,000 in annual turnover are not VAT-registered and add no VAT — so treat 25% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a refrigerator, or should you replace it?
A common rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds roughly half the price of a comparable new unit — or the appliance is past ~8 years for a refrigerator — replacement is often the better value. The calculator's localized totals give you the number to weigh against a new-unit quote.
Prices are county (fylke)-level estimates based on regional wage data (SSB lønnsstatistikk 2024), not fake city precision. Shopping in the U.S.? See the U.S. version (USD). In Canada?
