- Brand tier — The cheapest of the big three NZ ventilation brands to keep in filters: DVS-fit media is NZD 45 (carbon sock) and NZD 50 (F7) at the same NZ aftermarket supplier that charges NZD 42–139 for HRV-fit, NZD 60–180 for SmartVent-fit and NZD 70 for Weiss-fit. Every DVS filter observed is below every equivalent-grade HRV or SmartVent filter (their common F8 is NZD 60), so DVS sits below the mainstream baseline at 0.95; only Moisture Master (NZD 20–24) is cheaper, and that brand holds the value tier.
- Parts vs labour — the brand and tier shift the parts price; labour tracks your area's wage index, not the brand.
- The specific fault — a sensor, seal, or valve is far cheaper than a compressor, motor, or control board.
- DIY vs professional — Some DVS faults (filters, seals, hoses) are DIY-feasible for confident owners; sealed-system and control-board work is a professional job.
