Base: published rates from 1 South African repair company (2026-08) · South Africa national base range (Stats SA Labour Market Dynamics in South Africa (LMDSA) 2023) · Reviewed August 2026 · Estimated
These are South African base ranges from South African (rand) sources for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning work, localized with median-earnings differences between provinces (Stats SA, Labour Market Dynamics in South Africa — LMDSA 2023; no occupation-by-province wage table exists for HVAC technicians, so provincial median earnings are the best official proxy). How we price this in South Africa
South Africa national base ranges come from named South African sources — air-conditioning repair and servicing pages, in rand and never converted from another currency. Reversible split air conditioners are the real South African market; the local term ‘heat pump’ usually names a geyser water heater, so our heat-pump pages price space-conditioning units only and say so. We localize with Stats SA's provincial median-earnings relatives (LMDSA 2023) — there is no occupation-specific provincial wage table for HVAC technicians and no South African equivalent of the U.S. Regional Price Parities, so the price and overhead terms stay at the national baseline. VAT is 15% but firms below the R1 million registration threshold charge none — treat 15% as a ceiling. Refrigerant and gas work requires SAQCC Gas-registered practitioners. The localization method and named, dated sources are on the methodology page.
