- Brand tier — Korean split-AC and EHS heat-pump range; spares are proprietary OEM items with no generic-equivalent market, and the observed basket is an air-conditioning cost structure rather than a boiler one — JS Energi lists Samsung PCB circuit boards at £538.23, compressors at £497.80 and fan motors at £256.80 against a £218.40-£261.60 mainstream boiler PCB, with remote controls £73.19-£95.00, filters £33.97-£57.53 and a temperature sensor at £39.37. Where those figures come from matters: JS Energi is a Swedish retailer (JS Energi AB, 'the best service in Sweden', operating separate .se/.no/.dk/.fr storefronts with the UK as one export market and much of its parts catalogue still titled in Swedish), not a UK-domestic stockist like Climate Controls & Spares or Direct Heating Spares; its GBP listings carry no stated VAT basis (inc/excl is unmarked on the page) and its own homepage states 'additional local fees, taxes and duties will be charged for deliveries to the UK' — collected by the shipping company or customs and not shown at checkout — so the genuine UK landed cost is higher than these quoted figures. These Samsung prices are therefore likely understated for a UK buyer and are not strictly like-for-like with the incl-UK-VAT £240.00 baseline used elsewhere in this guide; the 1.2 factor treats the observed board/compressor structure as a floor on an AC-parts cost basis, not an exact incl-VAT comparison. The observed board and compressor pricing rules out a 1.05 level. The 1.2 rather than 1.3 placement rests on the headline components rather than on the boards: the 1.3 brands do not all run higher on both boards and compressors, as the figures cited here show. Samsung's £538.23 board is in fact near the top of the observed AC board set, above Mitsubishi's control board (£283.04), Panasonic's outdoor (£267.98) and indoor (£176.02) boards, Toshiba's MCC5009 (£417.94) and MCC-1402 (£252.10) and Intergas's £430.80 incl-VAT board, level with ATAG's MCBA5415 (£536.40) and below only Mitsubishi's power PCB (£714.73), Panasonic's main PCB (£642.01) and ATAG's £582.78 unit. Is Samsung expensive to repair?
Samsung is a large-volume Korean manufacturer of split systems, ducted units and air-to-water heat pumps (EHS) across Europe, Australia and Asia. It is regarded as a mainstream brand whose repair profile is dominated by electronics, as with all inverter equipment. It does not make gas furnaces or boilers. Genuine electronic parts are sourced through Samsung's regional service channel and refrigeration wholesalers, with availability tracking local market share. Aftermarket substitution is limited for boards and sensors. Non-current models are the usual source of longer waits.
