It has to be said plainly: most minisplits sold in Colombia are cooling-only, and the heating mode appears only on some inverter models. Those who use it live in Bogota, on the Cundiboyacense plateau or in cold-country cities, and even then they switch it on only a few nights a year; on the coast it is never used. The country's residential heating offering is limited to electric and infrared convectors, so this symptom has a very small market and the frequencies of a cold country cannot be attributed to it. When it does happen, the technician first checks the controller settings and then the reversing valve and the charge. The visit is quoted as a $50,000 to $80,000 diagnosis or an $80,000 to $150,000 minor repair. It requires a technician because of the readings on the refrigerant circuit.

How much is a service-call fee for ductless mini-split repair?
Most Colombian companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of $30.000–$80.000 COP, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Colombia's standard 19% VAT (IVA) applies to air-conditioning and heating repair services (Tax Statute, art. 468). However, small providers registered as "no responsables del IVA" (formerly the simplified regime) do not charge it, and many independent technicians invoice without VAT — so treat 19% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a ductless mini-split, or should you replace it?
