How do brand & quality tier change the parts cost?

Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Value brands such as Junkers/Bosch and Brötje carry the cheapest, most widely stocked parts; Buderus, Wolf and Vaillant form the core of the German heating market, while premium makers like Viessmann and Weishaupt use higher-grade, often OEM-restricted components — with Stiebel Eltron, Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric common on the heat-pump and mini-split side. Pick a tier in the calculator for a class-typical estimate, or a specific German brand to override it.

Brands by quality tier & parts factor Estimated
BrandParts factorBasis
Basic tier parts ×0.85
Elco×0.85Parts ×0.85 (Judgment-based tier placement, not a computed ratio: Elco's German range is an oil/gas burner platform with no gas-PCB-class component, so 0.85 is NOT the arithmetic ratio of the observed commodity burner-parts basket (EUR 24.95-186.95) to the EUR 227.00 reference board. It is a conservative placement just below the mainstream reference level, matching the treatment this guide's Irish set applies to Ireland's oil-boiler brands (Grant, Firebird).)

Brötje×1.3Parts ×1.3 (Board-evidenced, capped below the raw ratio. Three separately listed Broetje central control units at a German shop: EUR 479.00 (Service LMS 14 Typ 1 - R6.3, Art. 7700409), EUR 479.00 (Platine Zentraleinheit LMU WGB 20 C Pro, Art. 636148) and EUR 569.00 (Platine Service - Zentraleinheit LMU 802000), all inkl. 19% MwSt. and all in stock. Median EUR 479.00 = a raw ratio of 2.11 against the EUR 227.00 anchor. These are pre-programmed Siemens LMU/LMS central units (burner control plus heating controller in one), not the bare single-boiler PCB the anchor is built from, so the factor is capped at 1.3 -- the same cap-below-raw treatment given to Wolf (raw 2.80) and Stiebel Eltron (raw 3.12-3.44). Tier stays 'mainstream' (market positioning); the factor describes the observed parts level, and the two axes are independent.)
Dimplex×1Baseline — no parts adjustment
Samsung×1Baseline — no parts adjustment
LG×1Baseline — no parts adjustment
Premium tier parts ×1.3
Wolf×1.3Parts ×1.3 (Wolf is regarded, particularly in southern Germany, as a demanding, technically high-grade brand. Electronic control components cost considerably more than at the volume brands: a control board for a Wolf heat pump comes to over EUR 630 incl. VAT, and a cascade control module to around EUR 444. For a straightforward gas condensing boiler the premium is likely to be smaller, so the factor is set conservatively below these observations.)
Viessmann×1.45Parts ×1.45 (Viessmann positions itself squarely in the premium segment. Original circuit boards for Vitodens/Vitotronic gas condensing boilers usually cost between EUR 120 and EUR 480 incl. VAT from trade suppliers, clustering around EUR 320-360 - noticeably more than Vaillant or Bosch/Junkers for comparable components.)
Weishaupt×1.3Parts ×1.3 (Weishaupt is known as a specialist in burner and control technology, serving both homes and larger commercial installations. Even basic operating and display units cost EUR 230-400 incl. VAT; complete digital controllers for larger cascade systems run into four figures and are not representative of an ordinary single-family house. For domestic use, therefore, a clear but conservative premium over the reference level is applied.)
Stiebel Eltron×1.3Parts ×1.3 (Stiebel Eltron is regarded in Germany as the quality leader in heat pumps. Original inverter boards cost around EUR 700-780 incl. VAT from trade suppliers - far more than a control board for a gas condensing boiler. The factor is nevertheless set conservatively below that raw range, because a heat-pump inverter board is not technically a like-for-like match for a plain gas boiler board.)
Alpha Innotec×1.3Parts ×1.3 (published rates from 2 local repair companies)
Nibe×1.2Parts ×1.2 (Tier median (premium heat-pump/AC sub-band without parts-price evidence -- Nibe, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba and Hitachi all sit at 1.2, so 1.2 IS that sub-band's median; it is deliberately one step below the price-evidenced premium level of 1.3-1.4). No German spare-parts EUR price was found for Nibe control boards; only complete-unit prices (Abluftwaermepumpe S735 EUR 13,178.00; Brauchwasserzentrale VVM S330 EUR 4,725.00) were found on a Nibe dealer site, and those do not establish a parts-cost ratio.)
Daikin×1.4Parts ×1.4 (Daikin is one of the largest suppliers of air-to-water heat pumps (Altherma) and air conditioning in Germany. Original control boards for Altherma heat pumps cost around EUR 260-430 incl. VAT from trade suppliers - noticeably more than for a straightforward gas condensing boiler.)
Mitsubishi Electric×1.2Parts ×1.2 (Tier median (premium heat-pump/AC sub-band without parts-price evidence -- Nibe, Mitsubishi Electric, Toshiba and Hitachi all sit at 1.2, so 1.2 IS that sub-band's median, one step below the price-evidenced premium level of 1.3-1.4). No independently published German EUR parts price was found despite checking several specialist AC/heat-pump parts retailers; the one reached category page shows a single unpriced accessory item, and another retailer hides prices behind a trade login.)
Panasonic×1.3Parts ×1.3 (Panasonic's Aquarea range is one of the most widely used air-to-water heat pumps in Germany. Original main control boards mostly cost between EUR 240 and EUR 340 incl. VAT from trade suppliers - considerably more than a control board for a gas condensing boiler.)
Toshiba×1.2Parts ×1.2 (published rates from 1 local repair company)
Hitachi×1.2Parts ×1.2 (Hitachi Cooling & Heating Deutschland - offizielle deutschsprachige Marktseite (Split-Klimaanlagen, Yutaki-Waermepumpen, Warmwasser-Waermepumpen; Haendlersuche 'Verkaufsstellen'; Hinweis: 'Hitachi Cooling & Heating-Produkte werden von der Bosch Home Comfort Group hergestellt und vertrieben.'), published rates from 1 local repair company)

Is it worth repairing a gas furnace?

If the repair quote exceeds roughly half the price of a comparable new gas furnace — or the unit is well past its typical service life — replacement is often the better value. Localize the repair range above first, then compare.

Prices are state (Bundesland)-level estimates based on labour-cost data, not fake city precision. See the methodology for the localization method and named sources.
