How do brand and quality tier change the repair cost?
Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Value brands — Cointra, Ferroli, Fagor and Daitsu — carry the cheapest, most widely stocked parts; Baxi (Roca), Junkers Bosch, Saunier Duval and Ariston form the mainstream core of the Spanish boiler market, alongside LG, Samsung, Fujitsu (General) and Haier on the air-conditioning side; premium makers — Vaillant and Viessmann in boilers and air-to-water heat pumps, and Daikin, Panasonic, Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric in air conditioning and heat pumps — use higher-grade components, often sold through the manufacturer's official channel (piezas de origen). Pick a tier for a class-typical estimate, or a specific Spanish brand to override it.

Ductwork & Vents duct damper repair: what usually causes it? Estimated
-
Checking and readjusting the damper actuator
Pro recommended€70–€145
Many dampers that look faulty are only out of adjustment or disconnected from the actuator: the technician goes in through the hatch, checks the signal from the zone controller, repositions the spindle and resets the travel, with no materials at all. It is the check always made before ordering the part and it settles a good share of the call-outs. The cost is only the one or two hours of work, at €71.39/hour including VAT according to the tariffs published by Spanish service companies. It means going up into the false ceiling and handling the zone wiring: a professional.
-
Repairing or replacing a motorised zone damper
Pro recommended€180–€450
Zone control has become standard in new Spanish builds, and with it a new fault: the motorised damper that sticks open or closed and leaves a room with no heating or cooling. Spanish guides quote the full set of motorised dampers for a three- to six-zone home at €600 to €1,800, which gives a cost per damper of about €100 to €300; to that you add one or two hours of work. The damper is motorised and wired to the zone controller, so the installer replaces it.

How much is a service-call fee for ductwork & vents repair?
Most Spanish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €36–€97, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Spain's standard 21% VAT (IVA) applies to heating and cooling repair services, and consumer prices are shown VAT-inclusive. A repair carried out in a dwelling can fall to the 10% reduced rate (Spanish VAT Act art. 91.Uno.2.10º) when three conditions hold at once: the customer is a private individual, the dwelling was completed more than two years ago, and the materials supplied by the firm are under 40% of the tax base. Labour-heavy jobs with little material often meet all three, so 21% is the standard rate but not always the effective rate on the invoice — treat it as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a ductwork & vents, or should you replace it?
A common rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds roughly half the price of a comparable new unit — or the appliance is past ~8 years for a ductwork & vents — replacement is often the better value. The calculator's localized totals give you the number to weigh against a new-unit quote.
Prices are autonomous community (comunidad autónoma)-level estimates based on autonomous-community wage data (INE Annual Wage Structure Survey 2022), not fake city precision. Shopping in the U.S.?
