When the valve loses its regulation the appliance burns unevenly, goes out while running or simply does not open the gas. The spread depends heavily on the brand: there are compatible solenoid valves for around €50 and original modulating valves above €200. It is the safety component par excellence on a gas appliance — replacing it requires a tightness test and pressure setting — so only a registered gas installation company may do it, in line with RD 919/2006 and ITC-ICG 09.

How much is a service-call fee for gas furnace repair?
Most Spanish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €36–€97, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Spain's standard 21% VAT (IVA) applies to heating and cooling repair services, and consumer prices are shown VAT-inclusive. A repair carried out in a dwelling can fall to the 10% reduced rate (Spanish VAT Act art. 91.Uno.2.10º) when three conditions hold at once: the customer is a private individual, the dwelling was completed more than two years ago, and the materials supplied by the firm are under 40% of the tax base. Labour-heavy jobs with little material often meet all three, so 21% is the standard rate but not always the effective rate on the invoice — treat it as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a gas furnace, or should you replace it?
