Constant starting and stopping almost always comes from a sensor that reads wrongly and makes the appliance believe it has already reached the setpoint. The part is cheap — €20 to €45 excluding VAT — and what moves the quote is access: on some models half the combustion chamber has to come apart. It is the same NTC sensor fitted to gas boilers and water heaters, and it is priced the same way. Work for a registered gas installation company.

The pressure switch checks that the flue is drawing; if its diaphragm tires or the small silicone tube blocks, the appliance starts and cuts out after a few seconds. The spread is wide because sometimes the pressure switch is fine and the real problem is the fan or the flue duct, and then the job escalates. It is a safety device on the removal of combustion products: it is never tampered with or bypassed, and replacing it is a job for a registered company.

How much is a service-call fee for gas furnace repair?
Most Spanish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €36–€97, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Spain's standard 21% VAT (IVA) applies to heating and cooling repair services, and consumer prices are shown VAT-inclusive. A repair carried out in a dwelling can fall to the 10% reduced rate (Spanish VAT Act art. 91.Uno.2.10º) when three conditions hold at once: the customer is a private individual, the dwelling was completed more than two years ago, and the materials supplied by the firm are under 40% of the tax base. Labour-heavy jobs with little material often meet all three, so 21% is the standard rate but not always the effective rate on the invoice — treat it as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
Is it worth repairing a gas furnace, or should you replace it?
