A heat-recovery unit produces condensate from the extract air, which is led through a trap into the drain. When the trap dries out in summer or blocks, the water runs into the bottom of the unit and from there onto the floor. During the visit the trap is cleaned and refilled and the condensate pipe checked. The price is hourly work at EUR 57–76.56 an hour plus the service-vehicle charge; the minimum charge is two hours, that is EUR 153.12, or EUR 180.72 with the service vehicle. In Finland the fault is most common in winter, when the most condensate is produced, and after a long summer holiday because of a dried-out trap.

If the water comes from somewhere other than the condensate pipe, it is usually condensation on the surface of a duct running through a cold loft, or a condensate pipe installed on a slope that does not drain. The repair means re-sloping the pipe, adding trace heating or renewing the duct insulation. The price is made up of hourly work and materials; the top means insulation work carried out in the loft in winter. In the Finnish climate this is a very typical fault, and it is often mistaken for a roof leak. The electrical connection of trace heating requires electrical competence.

How much is a service-call fee for air handler repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
