How do brand and quality tier change the repair cost?
Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Parts prices vary by brand, and they say nothing about how good a unit is. The reference level here is Mitsubishi Electric, whose control boards average €805.18. Pricier boards were observed for CTC, LG and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, cheaper ones for Panasonic, Viessmann, Fujitsu, Thermia, Bosch and Toshiba. For many brands — among them Daikin, NIBE, Samsung and Vaillant, and the Finnish makers Jäspi, Gebwell, Lämpöässä, Oilon, Vallox, Enervent and Ariterm — no publicly priced control board is available, so no price difference is claimed either way. The price observations come from a Nordic euro parts storefront, not from a Finnish shop's price list. Pick a tier for a class-typical estimate, or a specific Finnish brand to override it.

Ductwork & Vents duct insulation replacement: what usually causes it? Estimated
-
Patching the duct insulation at a condensation point
Pro recommended€180–€450
In Finland duct insulation is condensation insulation: a warm extract duct running through a cold loft condenses water as soon as the insulation is thin or broken, and the moisture runs into the insulation. The patching is done as hourly work and the insulation materials are cheap, so the price is in practice labour plus the service-vehicle charge. The top means several condensation points and a cramped loft. The problem is typically noticed in late winter, when a damp mark appears on the ceiling.
-
Renewing the insulation of the loft ducts
Pro recommended€600–€2,000
When the insulation is wet throughout or was too thin to begin with, the whole loft section of ducting is re-insulated. The work is often done in connection with a ventilation renovation, and the bottom end of actual ventilation renovations in a detached house is EUR 4,330, so insulation work on its own stays clearly below that. The top of the range means long duct runs and a low loft where moving about is slow. The work belongs to a ventilation contractor, and it is worth timing it together with the duct cleaning.

How much is a service-call fee for ductwork & vents repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. No reduced rate covers heating-equipment repair. Finland's household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) does not reduce the invoice; it is claimed later in your own tax return.
Is it worth repairing a ductwork & vents, or should you replace it?
A common rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds roughly half the price of a comparable new unit — or the appliance is past ~8 years for a ductwork & vents — replacement is often the better value. The calculator's localized totals give you the number to weigh against a new-unit quote.
Prices are region (maakunta)-level estimates based on regional wage data (Statistics Finland, Palkkarakenne 2024), not fake city precision. Shopping in the U.S.? See the U.S. version (USD).
