Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Parts prices vary by brand, and they say nothing about how good a unit is. The reference level here is Mitsubishi Electric, whose control boards average €805.18. Pricier boards were observed for CTC, LG and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, cheaper ones for Panasonic, Viessmann, Fujitsu, Thermia, Bosch and Toshiba. For many brands — among them Daikin, NIBE, Samsung and Vaillant, and the Finnish makers Jäspi, Gebwell, Lämpöässä, Oilon, Vallox, Enervent and Ariterm — no publicly priced control board is available, so no price difference is claimed either way. In a Finnish house the ducts carry ventilation supply and extract air, not heating air, so a leaking duct shows up first as wrong air volumes and draughts rather than on the heating bill. The most common finding is a joint that has worked loose or a missing seal on the loft side. The visit is billed by the hour at EUR 57–76.56 an hour, with a service-vehicle or call-out fee of EUR 30–47.69 added. The floor of the invoice is set by the minimum charge: both of the price lists used here bill a minimum of two hours, which is EUR 153.12, or EUR 180.72 with the service vehicle, so even a short visit cannot be had for less. The work is done in a cold loft, which pushes the price to the top of the range in winter.

If the leak has had time to wet the insulation, sealing alone is not enough: the joint is taken apart, the duct is cleaned and the insulation renewed to prevent condensation. In Finnish conditions a warm extract duct running through a cold loft condenses moisture as soon as the insulation is broken, and the result is a damp mark that looks like a roof leak. The price is made up of hourly work and duct materials; the top means several joints and awkward movement in the loft. The work is carried out by a ventilation contractor.

How much is a service-call fee for ductwork & vents repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. No reduced rate covers heating-equipment repair. Finland's household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) does not reduce the invoice; it is claimed later in your own tax return.
