The reference level here is Mitsubishi Electric, whose control boards average €805.18. Pricier boards were observed for CTC, LG and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, cheaper ones for Panasonic, Viessmann, Fujitsu, Thermia, Bosch and Toshiba. When a badly adjusted oil burner ignites accumulated oil all at once, soot is blown out of the boiler into the boiler room. The job ordered in Finland is cleaning the boiler's heating surfaces and sweeping the flue, which in a detached house costs EUR 59 with a starting fee of EUR 35 on top; the minimum charge is EUR 64. Clearing up soot that has spread into the living areas is in practice handled through the household insurance by a damage restoration firm, and no consumer prices are published for it, so it is not included in this figure. Cleaning alone is not enough if the cause of the puffback is in the burner's adjustment: a package is then ordered in which the burner is serviced, the nozzle and filter are replaced, the heating surfaces are cleaned and the flue is swept. The published package price is EUR 299, and the top arises when the boiler is very sooty, there is more than one flue, or the combustion head and the mixing device have to be dismantled for cleaning. The job always includes a flue-gas measurement so that the same fault does not recur. Servicing oil equipment belongs to a company approved by Tukes and the sweeping to a chimney sweep, so a do-it-yourself repair is not permitted.

How much is a service-call fee for oil furnace repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. No reduced rate covers heating-equipment repair. Finland's household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) does not reduce the invoice; it is claimed later in your own tax return.
Is it worth repairing a oil furnace, or should you replace it?
