Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Parts prices vary by brand, and they say nothing about how good a unit is. The reference level here is Mitsubishi Electric, whose control boards average €805.18. Pricier boards were observed for CTC, LG and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, cheaper ones for Panasonic, Viessmann, Fujitsu, Thermia, Bosch and Toshiba. When the heating does not switch off and the room overheats, the cause is usually a relay that has welded shut or a manifold actuator that has stayed in the open position. During the visit the actuator is freed or the relay is measured and the load disconnected. In a hydronic house the same symptom also arises from the control valve, in which case the work is directed at the district-heating substation: in the energy company's price list service work is EUR 76.00 an hour, the call-out fee EUR 30.00 and the minimum billing one hour, so the floor for the visit is EUR 106.00. In a plumbing and heating firm's price list the minimum charge is two hours instead, that is EUR 153.12, so ordered from there the same visit is dearer. In Finland the fault is often noticed in spring, when the outdoor temperature rises but the heating continues. The work requires electrical competence or a plumbing and heating fitter.

Replacing the actuator and the thermostat

If the actuator or the thermostat's relay has welded shut, both are replaced during the same visit, because a stuck relay has often burnt out the actuator as well. Thermostats cost EUR 11.90–134.99 and actuators a few tens of euros each. The top of the range means several circuits, all of which are checked. In Finland this work falls in spring and autumn, when the heating switches on and off. The change is fixed electrical installation work and requires a contractor holding electrical competence.

How much is a service-call fee for thermostat & controls repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. No reduced rate covers heating-equipment repair. Finland's household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) does not reduce the invoice; it is claimed later in your own tax return.
