How do brand and quality tier change the repair cost?
Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. Parts prices vary by brand, and they say nothing about how good a unit is. The reference level here is Mitsubishi Electric, whose control boards average €805.18. Pricier boards were observed for CTC, LG and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, cheaper ones for Panasonic, Viessmann, Fujitsu, Thermia, Bosch and Toshiba. For many brands — among them Daikin, NIBE, Samsung and Vaillant, and the Finnish makers Jäspi, Gebwell, Lämpöässä, Oilon, Vallox, Enervent and Ariterm — no publicly priced control board is available, so no price difference is claimed either way. The price observations come from a Nordic euro parts storefront, not from a Finnish shop's price list. Pick a tier for a class-typical estimate, or a specific Finnish brand to override it.

Thermostat & Controls zone control board / damper repair: what usually causes it? Estimated
-
Checking and adjusting the actuators on the underfloor-heating manifold
Pro recommended€155–€400
In Finnish hydronic underfloor heating, room-by-room control is done with electric actuators on the manifold, which a wiring centre drives according to the room thermostats. When one room stays cold, the most common cause is a stuck actuator or a wrongly paired thermostat. During the visit the actuators are gone through, the circuits bled and the flow rates adjusted. The price is hourly work at EUR 76.56 an hour plus the service-vehicle charge, and the minimum charge is two hours, that is EUR 153.12, which is the floor for the visit. The wiring-centre connections are fixed electrical installation work and require electrical competence.

Renewing the wiring centre and the room thermostats
Pro recommended€600–€1,800
When the wiring centre has failed or the system is so old that spare parts cannot be obtained, the whole room control is renewed. A detached house typically needs 4–8 thermostats at EUR 127.90–134.99 each, plus the central unit and the actuators. The top of the range means a house with two manifolds where the wired cabling has to be renewed. In Finland the renewal is often done at the same time as the heating is moved to spot-price electricity control. The work requires a contractor holding electrical competence plus the adjustments on the plumbing and heating side.

How much is a service-call fee for thermostat & controls repair?
Most Finnish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €30–€155, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (ALV, 25.5%) may or may not be included: many small heating and ventilation firms and sole traders fall under Finland's small-business VAT exemption threshold (turnover up to €20,000 a year, the limit in force since 1 January 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25.5% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. No reduced rate covers heating-equipment repair. Finland's household tax credit (kotitalousvähennys) does not reduce the invoice; it is claimed later in your own tax return.
Is it worth repairing a thermostat & controls, or should you replace it?
A common rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds roughly half the price of a comparable new unit — or the appliance is past ~8 years for a thermostat & controls — replacement is often the better value. The calculator's localized totals give you the number to weigh against a new-unit quote.
Prices are region (maakunta)-level estimates based on regional wage data (Statistics Finland, Palkkarakenne 2024), not fake city precision. Shopping in the U.S.? See the U.S. version (USD).
