In France, North-American-style ducted central air conditioning barely exists in homes: the equipment actually installed and billed is the ducted system, an outdoor unit paired with a unit in a suspended ceiling or a loft that distributes air through ductwork, and the prices used here are those of the ducted system. Every French source bills the ducted system higher than the split, €300 to €600 per call-out at Clim-Reversible against €150 to €300 for a single-split, because the circuit is longer, the charge larger and the unit less accessible. On top of the call-out comes the recharge, which Mon-Entretien-Climatisation prices at €150 to €400 including VAT and Installateur-Climatisation at €65 to €300, and leak detection at €80–150. The parts share covers the refrigerant and the consumables, which no French source itemises. Handling refrigerant is reserved for firms holding the refrigerant-handling certificate (attestation de capacité).

The top of the range matches long duct networks and awkward access. It is also the visit that satisfies decree no. 2020-912 of 28 July 2020: a thermodynamic system of 4 to 70 kW must be serviced at least every two years. How much is a service-call fee for central air conditioning repair?
Most French companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €80–€170, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT on French home heating and cooling work is usually the 10% reduced rate for repair and maintenance in a dwelling completed more than two years ago, not the 20% standard rate; some energy-performance improvement work can fall to 5.5%, depending on the equipment fitted and the rules in force. Many independent installers and micro-entrepreneurs also fall under France's small-business VAT exemption (franchise en base de TVA, €37,500 threshold for services) and charge no VAT at all — their invoices carry the note "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI".
