The 6pm to 10pm slots are billed distinctly higher by the same provider and are not included in this range, which covers normal hours only. The reset button may be pressed once or twice by the occupant, but setting the combustion and checking the burner are a heating engineer's business: the annual service of boilers of 4 to 400 kW is compulsory and must give rise to a certificate issued within 15 days.

French heating parts distributors show a manual-reset safety limiter from €18.60 including VAT, a 90/110 °C safety aquastat at €31.90 including VAT, and up to €149.69 including VAT for a 110 °C safety aquastat from a major boiler brand: it is that parts range that is used here. The rest of the bill is the labour, at the published hourly rate of €40 to €80 for a heating engineer, more in the Paris region, plus €20 to €40 of call-out charge. The job touches the overheat thermostat and the burner control box: it is not within a private individual's reach, and the compulsory annual service certificate is requested by the insurer in the event of a claim.

How much is a service-call fee for oil furnace repair?
Most French companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €80–€170, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT on French home heating and cooling work is usually the 10% reduced rate for repair and maintenance in a dwelling completed more than two years ago, not the 20% standard rate; some energy-performance improvement work can fall to 5.5%, depending on the equipment fitted and the rules in force. Many independent installers and micro-entrepreneurs also fall under France's small-business VAT exemption (franchise en base de TVA, €37,500 threshold for services) and charge no VAT at all — their invoices carry the note "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI". Prices displayed to consumers in France are quoted TTC (toutes taxes comprises — all taxes included).
