How we price this in Japan

Japan national base ranges come from named Japanese HVAC and heating cost-guide and parts sources — never FX-converted from another currency. We localize them with prefectural wage relatives from the MHLW Basic Survey on Wage Structure 2024 (there is no Japanese equivalent of the U.S. Regional Price Parity, and no Japan-wide occupation-specific wage table for the HVAC and heating repair trades, so the general regional wage relative stands in as the local labour-cost proxy; the parts and overhead terms stay at the national baseline). Consumption tax is 10% nationwide (standard rate) and consumer-facing prices must be displayed tax-inclusive, but small businesses below the tax-exempt threshold (taxable sales of ¥10 million or less in the base period) charge none — so treat 10% as a ceiling. On qualifications: charging or recovering refrigerant (fluorocarbons) in commercial refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment must be done by a firm registered under the Fluorocarbons Emission Control Act, and gas-appliance connection work and dedicated-circuit electrical work each require their own licensed trades — which is why refrigerant, gas and electrical repairs carry higher labour shares.
