HVAC Repair Service Call & Diagnostic Fee in Japan (2026)
Most Japanese repair companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of ¥8,500–¥19,000, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. Every figure is an Estimated or observed published fee — never a fake precise number. Reviewed August 2026.
What is the typical fee?
The national range is ¥8,500–¥19,000. The fee usually covers travel and diagnosis; many companies credit it against the repair if you proceed — always ask before booking. Consumption tax (standard rate 10%) is normally already inside the price: Japan's total-price display rule (sōgaku hyōji) requires a business to show consumers a tax-inclusive figure, so a quoted Japanese repair price is usually tax-included. Small businesses below the tax-exempt threshold (taxable sales of ¥10 million or less in the base period) may charge no consumption tax at all — so treat 10% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
