The mainstream baseline is Mitsubishi Electric: the air-to-air heat pump is the most common piece of mechanical heating equipment in a Norwegian home, and this is the brand Norwegian parts dealers stock most deeply. Toshiba, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Samsung, Hitachi and LG sit in the same parts-price class, while Daikin and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries sit higher. On the water-borne side — air-to-water and ground-source (bergvarme) — NIBE, CTC, Thermia, Bosch and IVT are the recurring names, with correspondingly higher parts prices; Flexit and Systemair (Villavent) supply balanced ventilation with Nilan above them, and Høiax covers hot-water cylinders. Loose or overheated connections behind a thermostat are one of the most common electrical faults in Norwegian homes, and they produce either unstable heat, a burnt smell or a circuit that trips. The electrician measures the circuit, checks the terminals and re-tightens the connections; that takes one to two hours, and the call-out runs NOK 750–2,000 incl. VAT. The spread is driven by whether the fault sits in the wall box or further out on the circuit. This entry applies to permanently wired thermostats for underfloor heating and panel heaters. This can never be done by the owner: anyone may buy electrical equipment, but only registered businesses may install it, and illegally executed work can mean reduced or forfeited insurance in the event of fire damage.

If the cable is damaged, undersized or connected in a box that cannot take the load, the installation has to be redone. Norwegian electricians price a new point at NOK 350 on top of the hourly rate of NOK 700–1,300, and an installed thermostat at NOK 2,200–3,500. The spread is driven by whether the cable can be pulled through the existing conduit or has to be laid afresh, by whether the wall has to be chased, and by whether the circuit has to be changed in the consumer unit. How much is a service-call fee for thermostat & controls repair?
Most Norwegian companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of kr 900–kr 2 500, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (MVA, 25%) may or may not be included: Norway has no reduced VAT rate for repairs, but small firms and sole traders with under NOK 50,000 in annual turnover are not VAT-registered and add no VAT — so treat 25% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
