How do brand and quality tier change the repair cost?
Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. NIBE of Markaryd is the Swedish volume maker of ground-source, air-to-water and exhaust-air heat pumps, and its board prices set the 1.0 reference line every other brand is measured against. Panasonic and Samsung carry the lowest parts prices, followed by Thermia, Värmebaronen and Bosch. Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Electric sit highest, followed by CTC, Daikin and Vaillant, with Toshiba, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, IVT and LG moderately above the line. On the ventilation side Systemair, Flexit and Östberg sit at the reference level and Swegon above it. ComfortZone and Energy Save have no published Swedish board price and are left at the reference level; EVI Heat, Viessmann and Swegon have none either and are set to the premium band median. Duct cleaning is the most common planned ventilation service in Swedish houses and costs SEK 4,500–12,000 with a mid price of SEK 8,250. In a published example for a 140-square-metre house with FTX and 14 air terminals, the duct cleaning was charged at SEK 6,400, cleaning and refitting the terminals at SEK 2,100 and the flow check at SEK 1,600, SEK 10,900 in total before ROT and SEK 7,870 after. Per terminal, the cleaning works out at about SEK 682. Another Swedish ventilation firm quotes about SEK 3,500 including VAT for a simpler house clean, that is just below the floor of the range — the difference is the scope, since the row here also includes removing and refitting the terminals and a closing flow check. The price drivers are the type of system — FTX costs more than plain extract or natural stack ventilation — the number of terminals, how dirty they are, and access to the loft and the cleaning hatches. Grease-laden kitchen extract ducts require several passes.

If you clean the ducts without changing the filters and going through the unit, half the effect is lost, and that is why the two jobs are usually booked together. A ventilation service visit costs SEK 2,800–7,500 with a mid price of around SEK 5,150; in a published example for an FTX system in a 140-square-metre house, the review of the unit accounted for SEK 1,400, flow measurement and adjustment of 12 air terminals for SEK 2,600, the labour for the filter change for SEK 450 and the filter set itself for SEK 850. Another Swedish firm sells the same thing as fixed packages: SEK 3,195, SEK 3,795 and SEK 4,995 for FTX depending on scope, and SEK 2,795–3,995 for extract systems. Supply and extract filters should be changed once or twice a year in the Swedish climate, more often in the pollen season and near a busy road.

How much is a service-call fee for ductwork & vents repair?
Most Swedish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of 450–900 kr, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (moms, 25%) may or may not be included: heating, cooling and ventilation work sits on the standard rate, and Sweden's reduced repair rate applies to an enumerated goods list (bicycles, shoes, leather goods, clothing and household linen) that does not reach heat pumps, boilers or ventilation units. Many small firms and sole traders fall under the small-business VAT exemption (turnover under SEK 120,000 per year, since 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. The ROT deduction is not a VAT cut but a tax reduction on the labour cost (30%, up to an annual cap per person), and it never applies to materials, the equipment itself or the call-out fee.
