Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. NIBE of Markaryd is the Swedish volume maker of ground-source, air-to-water and exhaust-air heat pumps, and its board prices set the 1.0 reference line every other brand is measured against. Panasonic and Samsung carry the lowest parts prices, followed by Thermia, Värmebaronen and Bosch. Fujitsu and Mitsubishi Electric sit highest, followed by CTC, Daikin and Vaillant, with Toshiba, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, IVT and LG moderately above the line. On the ventilation side Systemair, Flexit and Östberg sit at the reference level and Swegon above it. The technician reads the alarm log, measures the flow and return, and checks the circulation pump, the sensors and the system pressure before the refrigerant circuit is touched at all. The market price for a service visit with fault-finding is SEK 2,200–4,200; one Stockholm firm sells standard fault-finding with repair at SEK 2,490 including VAT and the call-out after the ROT deduction, another quotes from SEK 3,495 after ROT. Certified refrigeration technicians charge SEK 750–1,200 per hour including VAT. The homeowner can check the fuse and the system pressure themselves, but everything involving the refrigerant circuit requires a certified refrigeration engineer, and all fixed electrical work a company registered with Elsäkerhetsverket.

An emergency service visit costs SEK 3,400–7,000 depending on the time of day and the day of the week, and the amount contains the service vehicle, the labour and an emergency fee. It becomes relevant when a ground-source heat pump goes into alarm in January and the house has no alternative heat source — many Swedish houses have an immersion heater as back-up, and the visit can then wait until a weekday at a lower rate, which the technician almost always asks about on the phone. The amount is before the ROT deduction and the emergency fee does not qualify for ROT.

How much is a service-call fee for heat pump repair?
Most Swedish companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of 450–900 kr, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. VAT (moms, 25%) may or may not be included: heating, cooling and ventilation work sits on the standard rate, and Sweden's reduced repair rate applies to an enumerated goods list (bicycles, shoes, leather goods, clothing and household linen) that does not reach heat pumps, boilers or ventilation units. Many small firms and sole traders fall under the small-business VAT exemption (turnover under SEK 120,000 per year, since 2025) and charge no VAT — so treat 25% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on. The ROT deduction is not a VAT cut but a tax reduction on the labour cost (30%, up to an annual cap per person), and it never applies to materials, the equipment itself or the call-out fee. Is it worth repairing a heat pump, or should you replace it?
