Brand and tier adjust the parts portion only — never labour. On parts, the brand differences that actually show up in Italy are on the control boards. The lowest prices observed at Italian spares retailers belong to Immergas, Biasi and Savio, Unical, Baxi, Vaillant and Bosch (Junkers); Beretta and Riello, which share the same electronics, are the reference line for the table; above the reference sit Ariston, Ferroli, Hermann Saunier Duval, Sime and, highest of all, Chaffoteaux. On air conditioning the only published Italian price that could be verified is the LG board: for Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Panasonic, still the priciest brands for parts, the figure shown is their band median. The thermostat reads 19 and the house never gets there: in most Italian flats the fault lies in where the thermostat is, that is in the hall by the front door or on top of a cabinet, where it reads a temperature that is not the one in the room being lived in. The technician checks the position, the calibration and the differential and sorts out the programming. The cost is that of a short job: an electrician at 25-60 EUR per hour plus 10-30 EUR of travel, or the heating service centre's tariff minimum of 90 EUR. It is the check to make before blaming the boiler.

If the thermostat is sound, the limit lies in the heat generator or in the controls: a flow temperature too low for the existing radiators, a weather compensation curve set badly after the boiler was replaced, thermostatic valves closed in the pass-through rooms. The heating technician attends at the 90 EUR tariff minimum, labour at 40-45 EUR per hour and a call-out fee of 35-45 EUR; other price lists give an hourly cost of 30-60 EUR. It is work that touches the settings of a gas appliance and requires a firm qualified under DM 37/2008. Worth noting: on condensing systems too high a flow temperature loses efficiency, so the right setting is also a saving on the bill.

How much is a service-call fee for thermostat & controls repair?
Most Italian companies charge a call-out / diagnostic fee of €35–€80, often credited toward the repair if you go ahead. It is separate from the repair totals above. Standard VAT (IVA) of 22% applies to standalone heating and air-conditioning repair services in Italy (DPR 633/1972); a reduced 10% rate can apply when the job counts as ordinary or extraordinary maintenance of a residential property (Law 488/1999 art. 7). Watch the 'beni significativi' cap: the decree of 29 December 1999 lists boilers and air-conditioning equipment by name, so when the boiler or the air conditioner is worth more than half the agreed price, the 10% rate only covers the difference between the total job value and the value of that item. Many small sole-trader firms also use the flat-rate scheme (regime forfettario, €85,000 turnover threshold) and charge no VAT — so treat 22% as a ceiling, not a guaranteed add-on.
