HVAC Repair — United Kingdom

HVAC Warranty Costs (UK, 2026)

In the United Kingdom the picture is the inverse of the US one: manufacturer guarantees are unusually LONG — commonly 5 to 12 years — and cover parts AND labour (in Worcester Bosch's case even the call-out fee), not parts alone. But that length is heavily conditional. The long headline number normally applies only if the appliance is registered within 30 days of installation — miss that and cover reverts to 12 months — while the top tiers additionally require an accredited installer and, for several brands, a specific piece of hardware such as a Greenstar system filter or a magnetic filter fitted and kept maintained. Every year the boiler must also have a documented annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer or the remaining years can be lost, and a completed Benchmark commissioning checklist is treated as warranty evidence. Heat-pump guarantees run materially shorter than gas-boiler ones — typically 2 to 7 years — and refrigerant work needs a separate F-Gas qualification rather than Gas Safe. A manufacturer guarantee is also separate from the homeowner's statutory rights against the seller under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Below: every brand's terms with its own source, and what actually voids cover. Informational only — no rankings, no recommendations. Reviewed July 2026.

Manufacturer warranty terms, by brand Estimated

Standard = the base defect warranty; component = any longer coverage on specific parts. Each row cites that brand's own official warranty documentation (retrieved 2026-07-19). Terms vary by model and change over time — confirm on the manufacturer's current warranty document.

Ideal12 months. Ideal Heating states plainly that warranties are "limited to 12 months if you don't register it within 30 days of installation." The lower-tier ranges also carry short published terms regardless: Logic Heat and Mexico HE are 2-year products.Registered within 30 days, published terms by range: Vogue Max Combi/System 12 years; Logic Max Combi/System/Heat 10 years; Vogue Gen2 Combi/System 10 years; Logic+ Combi/System/Heat 7 years with 10 years on the heat exchanger. Ideal's warranty provides "full parts and labour repair services, or boiler replacement, free of charge" for mechanical or electrical breakdown caused by a manufacturing defect — it covers the appliance only, not radiators or pipework. The 12-year Vogue Max figure is Ideal's outright published headline warranty, NOT a 10-year term topped up to 12. The Vogue Max's 12-year figure specifically requires installation by an Ideal 'MAX accredited installer,' per the Max Confidence Warranty T&Cs (Section 4: 'To qualify for the full 10 year boiler warranty (12 in the case of a Vogue MAX, installed by a MAX accredited installer)...') — a distinct installer-accreditation gate beyond the standard 30-day registration. SEPARATELY, the "Max Confidence" scheme adds one further year on top of whatever the boiler's warranty already is — "An additional year will be added to the warranty end date of the boiler" — applied once only, on MAX boilers sold from 1 January 2026 onwards and subject to continued adherence to the warranty terms, so a 10-year Logic Max reaches 11 years and a 12-year Vogue Max reaches 13. Every year the boiler must be serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer or "the boiler warranty will lapse."Ideal Heating
Baxi1 year. Baxi's warranty "reverts to the standard one year" if any of three conditions fails: registration within 30 days of installation, completion of the Benchmark checklist by the installer at the time of installation, or an annual service.Registered and serviced, Baxi publishes parts-AND-labour warranties by range: Baxi 800 range 10 years; Baxi 600 range 7 years; Baxi 400 range 5 years; Baxi 200 range 2 years. The Baxi 800's 10-year term carries an extra hardware condition — the supplied magnetic filter must be fitted and maintained for the full length of the warranty, otherwise the warranty reverts to only 2 years. Coverage is the boiler and its integrated controls only; failures traced to poor installation or to system sludge are chargeable.Baxi
Worcester BoschGreenstar gas boilers: 5-year standard guarantee. Oil boilers: 2-year standard guarantee. Worcester Bosch is explicit that it issues free manufacturer GUARANTEES rather than paid warranties ("We don't offer warranties"), and that the guarantee covers "any parts, labour, and call-out fees" on boilers, heat pumps and air conditioners. The guarantee must be registered by the homeowner or the installer to become active.Extended tier is gated on the installer, not just on registration. A Greenstar gas boiler installed by a Worcester Bosch Accredited Installer together with a Worcester Bosch Greenstar system filter goes to 10 years. Worcester's Lifestyle boiler range goes to 12 years on the same conditions (Accredited Installer + Greenstar system filter). Oil boilers extend to up to 8 years when installed by an Accredited Installer with a system filter and a new Worcester Bosch cylinder. Extended guarantees are explicitly NOT available where the appliance is fitted with the smaller System Filter Micro. Actual length for a given unit is model- and installation-dependent and is looked up from the 23-digit serial number in Worcester Bosch's own guarantee checker.Worcester Bosch
Vaillant12 months from the date of installation if the guarantee is not registered. Vaillant's own terms are unambiguous: "The boiler guarantee must be registered within 30 days of installing the appliance. Failure to register within this time period will result in the guarantee reverting to 12 months from date of installation." Registration requires the appliance's full 28-digit serial number. The boiler must have been installed and commissioned by a Gas Safe registered engineer, within 6 months of despatch from Vaillant's warehouse, with the Benchmark logbook completed.Registered within 30 days, the guarantee runs to the model's published term; a UK boiler-advice source reports these as 6 years (ecoTEC Pro), 7 years (ecoFIT pure) and 8 years (ecoTEC plus), with an extended term of up to 10 years available on eligible models when the boiler is installed by a Vaillant Advance Installer — an engineer accredited by Vaillant to a defined standard. Ongoing conditions from Vaillant's own terms: the boiler must be serviced annually by Vaillant or another Gas Safe registered engineer in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions (the cost of that annual service is NOT included in the guarantee), and the boiler must not be relocated without Vaillant's written consent. What is covered: "material and labour charges to repair or replace components within the boiler against manufacturing defects from the installation date, provided the repair is carried out by Vaillant or a Vaillant authorised Gas Safe registered engineer" — parts AND labour, but the boiler only, not external system components. Vaillant heat pumps run on a parallel scheme: register within 30 days or revert to 12 months, annual service or the guarantee "will become invalid", and installation by a suitably competent engineer with valid certification (e.g. MCS).Vaillant UK
Viessmann2 years on all UK residential products (Vitodens gas condensing boilers and Vitocal air-source/ground-source heat pumps) unless the installation is registered with Viessmann within 30 days.Registered within 30 days, Viessmann UK publishes a tiered ladder in which the first extension is free and further years are a priced option — Vitodens 050-W: 2 → 7 years free, 10 years for £180. Vitodens 100-W: 2 → 7 years free, 10 years for £210 or 12 years for £270. Vitodens 111-W: 2 → 7 years free, 10 years free, 12 years for £270. Vitodens 200-W: 2 → 7 years free, 10 years for £390 or 12 years for £480. Vitocal heat pumps (150-A, 200-A, 222-A, 300-G, 350-G and similar): 2 → 7 years for £360. Registration is via warranty.viessmann.co.uk for homeowners, or the VPlus platform for accredited installers holding a Viessmann account. Daikin2 years as standard on all UK residential products — air-to-water (Daikin Altherma) heat pumps and residential air conditioning / split systems alike. "All our residential customers receive a two-year guarantee on their products as standard."The extension tiers apply only to air-to-water heat pumps (Daikin Altherma), per the exact wording on the cited page. Once the installer has registered the air-to-water heat pump on Daikin's UK "Stand By Me" platform, the homeowner can log in and extend free of charge from 2 years to 5 years; and if that air-to-water heat pump was installed by a Daikin Sustainable Home Expert, a further 2 years can be purchased for a 7-year total. Residential air conditioning / split systems are NOT named as eligible for the 5-year or 7-year extension anywhere on the cited page — for those products only the 2-year standard guarantee is supported. The registration window is unusually generous by UK standards: "You have 2 years from when your unit is commissioned to log into Stand By Me and activate your extended warranty." The guarantee is valid only if annual maintenance is carried out, and Daikin may ask for proof that it was.Daikin UK
Mitsubishi Electric3 years is the base published term for Ecodan air-source heat pumps installed by a Standard Account installer (stated on Mitsubishi Electric's UK installer page as "3 Years Warranty" covering >20kW units, cylinders and ancillaries). The length is set by the installing company's accreditation tier rather than by a homeowner registration form: Standard Account installers 3 years; Accredited Ecodan Installers up to 5 years; Ecodan Business Solutions Partners up to 7 years (Business Solutions Partners also get a "Fast Track Warranty" online claims route). Homeowners are separately directed to activate their Ecodan Homeowner Guarantee — "it's important that you activate your Ecodan Homeowner Guarantee" — with accepted claims dependent on the products being "registered within 3 months of them being installed." The detailed maintenance interval is held in a separate homeowner terms-and-conditions document and is not restated here.Mitsubishi Electric UK
