How we price this in Japan

Japan national base ranges come from named Japanese cost-guide and parts sources. We localize them with MIC municipal-tax per-prefecture income statistics (2024) prefectural wage relatives (there is no Japanese equivalent of the U.S. Regional Price Parity, so the price and overhead terms stay at the national baseline). Consumption tax is 10% nationwide (standard rate), but many small repair businesses fall under Japan's tax-exempt small-business threshold (taxable sales of ¥10 million or less in the base period) and charge none — so treat 10% as a ceiling. Prices are in yen and never converted from another currency. The full formula, weights, clamp, and source vintages are on the methodology page.
